Myobloc

Cevical dystonia (also known as spasmodic torticollis) is a condition that primarily afects the muscles of the head and neck. It is one of several disorders of the nervous system that cause the muscles to contract involuntarily. These contractions can result in twisting, repetitive movements which are often painful. There is no known cure for cervical dystonia. Myobloc has been found to be an effective treatment in patients with this problem. Myobloc is a purified formulation of botulinum toxin type B. In clinical studies, Myobloc has shown to be an effective treatment in patients with cervical dystonia to reduce neck pain and allow for more normal head positioning. Your healthcare provider will determine if myoblock would be an appropriate method of treatment for your problem.

The Olean Medical Group provides this form of treatment in our neurology department.
